This pipe has been snapped up by one lucky customer, we have left this here for historical reference and interest
Churchwarden Spigot Peterson spigots are notoriously rare and usually take pride of place in any collection. The Spigot evolved on the front lines as soldiers repaired their pipe with a spent cartridge. Peterson evolved this into hallmarked sterling silver band and tapered fitting on the stem of a high grade pipe.
The cool smoking characteristics of a Churchwarden pipe combined with the quality craftsmanship and smoking characteristics associated with Peterson pipes. Finally they have introduced this truly Irish Green finish. We are amazed that Peterson haven't introduced a green Churchwarden before now but better late than never and we are very impressed with the results.
It is well documented that Churchwarden pipes smoke cooler than standard pipes, which is due to the extra distance the smoke has to travel. This gives the smoke more time to cool. Churchwardens are also known as Reading pipes as the bowl is kept away from the face allowing the smoker to read a book at the same time.
The Peterson Churchwarden Green Prince Spigot is a standard, highly polished, Apple shaped bowl with an extra long Acrylic stem and sterling silver spigot mount. The Prince has a fairly small bowl size and bore, which keeps the weight down and can be hung without support. The Apple shape is comfier in the hand but also aids in cooling. The apple shape has a thicker wall towards the base, which is where pipes are more prone to overheating.
Fishtail mouthpiece: Petersons trademark patented mouthpiece is the p.lip design, which has many advantages but it's not really needed on a churchwarden as the smoke is already remarkable cool and smooth and tongue bite isn't as much of an issue.
