Unfortunately these characterful pipes have been discontinued by the UK distributor so we cannot get hold of these any more. We have left the listing on our website for historical reference and interest.
Passatore Italian Briar Smoking Pipes: The Passatore pipes are a new range to adorn the extensive pipe collections at The Black Swan Tobacconist. They caught our eye towards the end of a trade show in 2013 after we'd already set the pipe selection for 2014. However the quality and value for money they offered combined with the gaping gap in the market they fill meant they were a no brainer and we snapped them up!
Passatore Pico Natural 404 103: The Passatore Pico Natural 404 103 is a short and stout Bent Apple, Italian Briar Pipe. The smaller size of the Pico enables easy storage and reduces damage to the pipe when open to the elements making it the ideal pipe for smoking outside. Any experienced pipe smoker will tell you it is bad practice to smoke any pipe in windy conditions as the draught will cause the pipe to flame and fire up which can damage the bowl. Although the Pico series is not exempt from this advice a smaller pipe will suffer less. Small pipes are great for the pocket and stand up to the rigours of travel more but don't generally burn as cool as a full size pipe. The Pico 103 is probably going to be the coolest smoking outdoor or travel pipe. It's generous thick Briar walls and 9mm filter go along way in keeping the smoke clean, cool and sweet. The best thing Passatore have managed to incorporate is a generous bend in the stem. This extends the length and gives the smoke more space and time to cool.
Fishtail mouthpiece: The Passatore Pico are fitted with the fishtail mouthpiece, which is the standard mouthpiece for most pipe manufacturers. The fishtail has the exit hole in the end of the mouthpiece. The end of the mouthpiece is flat, which some people find easier to grip, and suits the smoker who doesn't get on with the p.lip style.
9mm Absorbent Filter: The Passatore pipes are designed for use with any 9mm Absorbent Filters. The 9mm filters remove more impurities from the smoke than any other filter. The larger diameter of the 9mm allows more smoke to pass through the filter, with less restriction, which makes for a better draw compared to the 6mm filters. The highly absorbent filters have a very high surface area resulting in excellent absorption of the tar as the smoke passes through without affecting draw or flavour. No mess no fuss, simply throw the filter in the bin when it turns a dark brown colour.
