Chacom Pipes (St Claude) Chacom is a family owned company who can trace their pipe making heritage to 1825 before Briar was even discovered. They are based in St Claude which is widely recognised as the pipe making capital of the world. They are one of very few pipe manufacturers who make pipes from start to finish. From ageing the Briar right through to hand finishing.
Chacom Pipe of the year 2019 S500 Throughout 2018 Chacom have worked tirelessly to create 2019’s masterpiece and wow the work has paid off! In a first, this years Pipe of the Year has been expertly crafted from Bog Oak. Bog Oak (or Morta) is a term used for trees that have fallen into Peat bogs around 5,000 years ago. The acidity and anaerobic conditions of the Peat bogs preserve and season the wood that under normal conditions would have rotted away. Over the years the tannins leach out and when farmed the wood is in the early stages of fossilisation with a beautiful Dark Brown/Grey colour. Bog Oak is probably the most seasoned wood available on the planet!! The next stage would be Carbon! A bent egg shaped bowl combined with expert craftsmanship makes for a very comfortable and perfectly balanced pipe which looks simply stunning.
Filter Choice The Chacom Pipe Of The Year 2018 pipes can be smoked with a condensing filter (included) or a 9mm absorbent filter. The larger diameter of a 9mm filter allows more smoke to pass through the filter, with less restriction, which makes for a better draw compared to the 6mm filters. The highly absorbent filters have a very high surface area resulting in excellent absorption of the tar as the smoke passes through without affecting draw or flavour. The pipes have a standard 9mm bore so can be used with any brand of 9mm filter if preferred. Alternatively the filter can be removed altogether for smokers who prefer a totally un-restricted full on smoke.
Limited series Reserved for the best smoking specialists of the world, all these pipes are numbered from 1 to 1245
