El Rey Del Mundo Desde 1848 El Rey Del Mundo is believed to have been created by German entrepreneur Emilio Ohmstedt in 1848. El Rey Del Mundo (King of the World in Spanish) was at one time the most expensive and prestigious cigar company in the world. The company also produced such famous brands as Sancho Panza, Rafael González, and Don Cándido. Production continued after the Revolution and the brand maintained its popularity through the 1960s and 1970s, but as the world taste started to run towards stronger cigars, the milder El Rey del Mundo brand began to lose its status as a foremost brand of Cuban cigars. Despite its loss of popularity, El Rey del Mundos cigars are still prized for their mild, complex flavors, with the Choix Supreme, Grandes de España, and Demi Tasse sizes being particularly popular among connoisseurs.
La Reina The much anticipated 2018 Habanos UK edition El Rey Del Mundo La Reina (The Queen) has finally landed. Each Cigar is finished with a signature pigtail, synonymous with the Laguito No.1 vitola and all have been rolled at the world famous El Laguito factory in Havana, the spiritual home for this iconic size. The size was created by Eduardo Rivera and the first to be offered to President Fidel Castro in 1963, almost two decades before it was commercially launched and made available as the Cohiba Lanceros in 1982. Today the most qualified and skilled technicians for this challenging size remain at the factory and for this reason, the Cuban Cigar Industry decided to locate all of the La Reina production at the prestigious El Laguito factory. We believe this is a first for any Habanos Regional Edition.
Loose Cigars: When the El Rey Del Mundo Cigars leave the factory they are packaged loose in a Cedar lined box. This helps the cigars to develop and flavours to diffuse. They are stored in our humidors until dispatch and ideally should be transferred directly into a humidor. If you are buying them for a special occasion they should keep for up to a week in a cool, dark place.
Hand Rolled: The tradition of being rolled on a maiden’s thigh can be questioned but the added quality a cigar beholds from being hand rolled by an experienced Cigar Roller cannot. Each cigar is rolled to the same density with full length filler (leaves), providing the perfect draw and ash build up, which cannot be matched by a machine.
Preparation: Please note the El Rey Del Mundo cigars require cutting or punching before they can be enjoyed.
