Clairmont Italian Artisan Briar Pipes: Clairmont is a true Artisan pipe making company born in the 1980's to take advantage of the natural resources on their native island just off the coast of Italy where some of the finest Italian Briar is harvested. A small group of creative friends took it upon themselves to create the Clairmont company and use their vast experience in harvesting and processing Briar to produce some of the finest artisan pipes in the world from their own boutique workshop. There are only few boutique pipe makers in the world that go to the extents of repetitively boiling their Briar to remove tannins and elements from the Briar before seasoning and ageing but this makes a big difference to the smoke and almost eliminates bitter flavours when smoked. Every pipe is hand crafted in an environmentally sustainable way to ensure this brand remains true to it's origins and can maintain a source of premium Briar. In true ecological fashion the pipes are only finished in natural wax and no chemicals are used during the entire manufacturing process.

Clairmont Half Rustico: This is probably our favourite pipe to be added to our portfolio of artisan pipes for 2016. Where do we start ............ well it's simply stunning with a rusticated body with a light stain overlaid with a rich browny red stain which has been brushed off on the raised areas to reveal a beautiful contrast between the two stains. The rim of the pipe which is unique in shape in itself has been left smooth with the light stain which reveals one of the nicest grain patterns we have seen for years. The craftsman behind this pipe is simply a genius to have spotted this during carving. The pipe has been been shaped to enhance the flame grain which tapers into the centre of the base. It will be a wonder if this pipe is ever actually smoked as the lucky owner will likely spend more time captivated by this pipe and forget to put a flame to it! The pipe is finished with a marbled brown and horn coloured mouthpiece with a pattern that blends beautifully with the grain of the pipe. We will be sad to see this pipe go.
