Their pipes were formerly reserved for exclusive sale in their Perth shop but they have answered many prayers by releasing these stunning pipes to retailers worldwide.
Charles Rattray's Coloss Briar Pipes As Legend has it, Northern Ireland was once the home to a giant named Finn MacCumhaill who had a feud over the water in Scotland with a Giant named Benandonner. After throwing rocks into the Irish Sea and creating the Giants Causeway he crossed over to Scotland to battle with Benandonner but when he got there Benandonner was so much bigger and stronger he turned around and went back home. Benandonner then came to Finn’s house to fight him but Finn’s wife had a clever plan. She dressed Finn up as a baby and put him into their son’s cot. When he saw the huge baby, Benandonner was very scared. He didn’t want to meet the huge baby’s father who had to be even bigger than he was. Benandonner left and never bothered Finn again. If either of them had smoked a pipe then it probably would have been something like this one. The Rattrays Coloss 147 is a straight Billiard with colossal dimensions. Available in Sandblast or Smooth Grey, the huge bowl will not need refilling as much as a normal pipe so is perfect for those long fireside sessions.
9mm Absorbent Filter The Charles Rattray’s Coloss pipes are designed for use with the any 9mm absorbent stem filters. The larger diameter allows more smoke to pass through the filter, with less restriction, which makes for a better draw compared to the 6mm filters. The highly absorbent filters have a very high surface area resulting in excellent absorption of the tar as the smoke passes through without affecting draw or flavour.
The pipes have a standard 9mm bore so can be used with any brand of 9mm filter if preferred. Alternatively the filter can be removed altogether for smokers who prefer a totally un-restricted full on smoke.
