Chacom Pipes (St Claude) Chacom is a family owned company who can trace their pipe making heritage to 1825 before Briar was even discovered. They are based in St Claude which is widely recognised as the pipe making capital of the world. They are one of very few pipe manufacturers who make pipes from start to finish. From ageing the Briar right through to hand finishing.
Chacom Turbo 9mm Pipes The Chacom Turbo is a chunky pipe which is suited to the smoker who is looking for a smaller pocket friendly pipe but doesn’t want a dainty looking pipe that is prone to overheating. The Turbo is very comfortable in the hand with it’s apple shaped bowl which has been sandblasted and stained light brown. The results are a very attractive pipe with the beautiful grain pattern of Chacom’s quality briar highlighted to it’s full potential. Some companies struggle to get sandblasting right as it is a very skilled task but this is where Chacom’s heritage and experience really shines through. The pipe is finished with a Black Acrylic stem with an inlaid metal chacom logo.
Filter Choice The Chacom Turbo pipes can be smoked with a condensing filter (included) or a 9mm absorbent filter. The larger diameter of a 9mm filter allows more smoke to pass through the filter, with less restriction, which makes for a better draw compared to the 6mm filters. The highly absorbent filters have a very high surface area resulting in excellent absorption of the tar as the smoke passes through without affecting draw or flavour. The pipes have a standard 9mm bore so can be used with any brand of 9mm filter if preferred. Alternatively the filter can be removed altogether for smokers who prefer a totally un-restricted full on smoke.
