Butz Choquin Origine 1857 As if you haven't realised already the Origin is a truly striking creation and is quite simply a stunning piece. It might come as a surprise that this pipe was originally designed in 1857 ........ okay the name of the pipe might have given that away but humour us. This model was the original pipe released to the world by Gustave Butz and Jean Choquin, which was revolutionary at the time and set the foundations of what has become one of the most successful and renowned pipe manufacturers we know today. They enjoyed worldwide success on the back of this unique masterpiece, which was that far ahead of it's time it is still a key pipe in their range nearly 150 years later! And it's not just beautiful to the eye the pipe is clearly made with the pipe smoking enthusiasts in mind. This pipe is made to be enjoyed not just displayed.
The bowl is made from the finest Briar that Butz Choquin have become renowned for, with an extended horn effect stem in between two nickel bands. The extra long stem allows the smoke more time to cool and is now designed to incorporate the popular 9mm absorbent filter. The bowl size is quite large with a deep bore, perfect for a long evening in front of the fire.
9mm Absorbent Filter The Butz Choquin Origine are designed for use with the absorbent 9mm Filters. The larger diameter allows more smoke to pass through the filter, with less restriction, which makes for a better draw compared to the 6mm filters. The 9mm pipe filters has a very high surface area resulting in excellent absorption of the tar as the smoke passes through without affecting draw or flavour. No mess no fuss, simply throw the filter in the bin when it turns a dark brown colour.
The pipes have a standard 9mm bore so can be used with any brand of 9mm filter if preferred. Alternatively the filter can be removed all together for smokers who prefer a totally un-restricted full on smoke.
