The two main components in these lighters’ ignition system are the sparkwheel and the flint, both of which are replaceable.
The sparkwheel is made from serrated hardened steel wire, while the flint is made from pyrophoric alloy known as ferrocerium. When you turn the wheel and press the ignition button with your thumb, the wheel rubs against the flint, creating a spark that ignites the gas to produce a flame. Turn your lighter upside down, insert the gas can’s bare nozzle into the lighter’s refilling valve, and hold firmly for five seconds. Next, pull the flint wheel up to remove the whole flint. Remove the screw from the flint wheel base and remove the sprint to pull it out. Place the new flint into the tube, insert the spring, and screw on the bottom. Insert the flint system into the lighter, and you’re ready to go! The only thing you can do wrong is put the flint system back in the wrong way around. You have a 50/50 chance, it’ll either spark or not!
