The price of Briar has increased dramatically over the last decade as rumours circle that this precious pipe making material is running out. There is one thing for sure and that is that the price of pipes has literally doubled over the last few years. In the early 00's we had baskets of Briar pipes on our counter for as little as £4.99. Now a Briar pipe under £20 is unheard of or not worth having. So manufacturers are looking for alternative materials and Knight have introduced a budget range of Pearwoods. Pear wood has been used for centuries but just doesn't last as long or smoke as well as Briar and it's rare to see any at this price range. So for those looking to try out pipe smoking without committing to the price of briar or those who break their pipes often the Pear woods are perfect.

The Knight Pear Wood pipes incorporate the re-usable metal filter system. The metal filter is suspended in the middle of a moisture trap, which forces the smoke to spiral round the cool metal before entering the stem. This causes condensation, which naturally removes tar and moisture deposits from the smoke trapping them in the shank for a cool pleasant smoking experience. Simply wipe clean in between smokes. The metal filter can be removed all together for smokers who prefer a totally un-restricted full bodied smoke.
